Rich, lavish, extravagant - all words commonly used to describe Dubai. Aside from the man-made Palm Island, underwater hotel and dazzling Gold Souk, there is a softer side to this grand, glitzy and glam city. Old Town souks steeped in historic charm, the quiet fishing village of the Bastakia Quarter and desert safaris are all waiting to be explored - all you need to do is peer past the eye-dazzling veneer.

When to visit Dubai

The ideal time to visit Dubai is between November and March when daytime temperatures is about 25ºC and you can walk around outside in comfort. Between April and October, it is summer in Dubai and daytime temperatures can regularly hit 40ºC. Although during this time you're guaranteed long, dry, sunny days. However, air conditioning in pretty much all hotels, restaurants and shopping malls make Dubai a year-round travel destination.
