Singapore health & safety

Medical services

Medical facilities in Singapore are of an excellent standard.  You’ll find pharmacies at supermarkets, department, stores and shopping centres, and many hotels even have their own doctor on-call around the clock. For an ambulance dial 995.

No vaccinations are required for travellers from NZ.  You will find the tap water safe to drink in Singapore.

Safety and security

Singapore remains calm and stable, and is one of the safest countries in the world to visit.  Violent crime is very rare but you should take the usual precautions regarding street crime by:

  • Taking care of your passport
  • Leaving tickets and unneeded cash at your hotel
  • Avoid taking valuables with you
  • If using a car avoid leaving unattended valuables in the vehicle.

Singapore travel insurance

Don’t leave home without it!  Accidents happen – and they can happen in the strangest places at the strangest times.  Travel insurance can cover you for all sorts of mishaps during your travel, and even before you leave.  Did you know up to 25% of all insurance claims are due to cancellation of travel?
