Conservations Volunteer Australia

Want to gain valuable skills, practical experience, and make a lasting impact in the world? You can! With our Conservation Volunteers program, travel to Australia where you can make a significant contribution towards ensuring the environment is protected and managed for future generations.

Here's your chance to give something back to the environment while you travel. CVA completes more than 1500 conservation projects across Australia each year, and welcomes everybody with a love of the outdoors and an interest in the environment to take part as a volunteer. Depending where the project is, accommodation might be tents under the desert stars or a cabin in the mountains. After a day’s work, you get together to cook dinner – experience Australian bush delights or surprise your fellow volunteers with samples of your home cooking! Transportation from a central point to the project site will be provided too.

You’ll experience a variety of projects, see some of Australia’s most stunning locations which most people never get to see, learn about the Australian habitat, develop new skills, make new friends and at the same time help the environment and have fun. So challenge yourself for an amazing conservation experience! Just choose which state or territory you would like to volunteer in, and we’ll organize a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 week conservation experience for you. CVA can’t guarantee projects in advance as they vary according to seasonal conditions and conservation priorities. However CVA will ensure that you experience a variety of projects and locations during your time as a volunteer.

Look what past participants have to say...
Dale - "I’ve planted trees, dug up weeds, controlled erosion by securing in ‘eco-logs’ of jute and coconut, worked on a tree ‘die-back’ control program drilling trees and injecting with herbicide, maintained walking tracks and participated in the nation-wide marine debris survey. I’d never done anything like it before. I thoroughly enjoy it.  I found I love being outside and we are constantly learning."

Cassandra - "For my first project I got lucky - we went to Phillip Island, made penguin habitat boxes and installed them. It was such a great experience. Conservation Volunteers run a very tight operation. You just need to show up really. You get taken to the project, there is a wide variety to choose from and complete the tasks.  Its not hard work, but it is good exercise and you know you’ve made a difference."
